Top sport in combination with a great pedigree!
This son of Lux Z is currently one of the most successful horses in the sport of international showjumping.
In 2014, Malin and Tornesch were 4th in the World Cup Table A at the CSI5*-W Gothenburg, 3rd in the Grand Prix Table A at the CSI5* Villach, Treffen, 3rd in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup at the CSIO5* Dublin, 2nd in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup at the CSIO5* Barcelona, and 4th in the Longines FEI World Cup at the CSI5*-W Verona.
In 2013 they were 2nd in the VDL Group Prize and 4th in the Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping at the CSI5*-W s'Hertogenbosch and went on to compete successfully in the World Cup Finals in Gothenburg placing 6th. Unfortunately, the stallion injured his eye after the World Cup, and it had to be removed. However, Malin reported to the Chronicle of the Horse that she thinks Tornesch is better than ever. The two won the CSIO3* Nations Cup round in Poland just months after the surgery and went on to place in many CSI's including being 4th in the GP CSI5* Lyon and 4th in the GPW CSI5* d'Helsinki.
In 2012, under the Swedish showjumping rider Malin Baryard, the bay stallion placed 2nd in the FEI Nations Cup at the CSIO5* TL NC in Rotterdam, and won the CSI3* San Giovanni in Marignano, Italy. This followed successes in 2011 such as a fantastic win of the Nations Cup at the CSIO5* NC Barcelona, 2nd in the Nations Cup at the CSIO5* TL NC Falsterbo, and 3rd in both the CSI5*-W in London and Paris. The combination also contributed to the winning Team of the 2010 Flasterbo Top League Nations cup. Tornesch and Malin Baryard were named to the 2012 Swedish Olympic Team, but a slight tendon injury kept them from attending.
Tornesch was honored as the 2013 best upcoming stallion in Sweden due to his success as a sport horse and sire, and he was approved by Holstein for breeding.
Tornesch's excellent pedigree lists three of the world's best stallions in a row: Lux Z, Libero H and Caletto I. His sire, Lux Z, was a great international show jumper having participated in the European Championships, World Cup Finals, Olympic Games, and the World Equestrian Games. In 2014, Lux Z was ranked 38th on the WBFSH list of the top jumper sires of the world. Aside from Tornesch, he produced CSI and CSIO horses such as Utascha, Wavantos van het Renvillehoeve, Shakespeare, and Ulke.
Tornesch's dam, Ninerta, is a daughter of Libero H, winner of the Nations Cup final with Jos Lansink and sire of great CSIO winners such as Liberty ridden by Laura Kraut and No Mercy ridden in the Athens Olympic Games by Christina Liebherr, as well as international stallions such as Numero Uno ridden by Marco Kutscher. Tornesch's dam line has produced, amongst others, the international showjumping horses Lennox and Pinkfloyd de Maibelle.
Tornesch's first foal crop includes the Swedish approved stallion, Turmalin (Tornesch x Cortez), who at this moment belongs to the most talented horses in Sweden.
