Painted Black is a KWPN "Preferent" stallion that has had a long and succesfull career in sports.  His career started with numerous victories in stallion competitions and Young Horse Classes with rider Hans Peter Minderhoud. When ridden by Anky van Grunsven, he was Reserve World Champion at the World Championship for 6-year-old dressage horses in Verden and became Dutch Champion in Grand Prix St. Georges in 2005.

After his debut in the international dressage arena, he continued his success by winning the Dutch Championships in Grand Prix in 2008 and placing 3rd in the 2009 World Cup Finals in Las Vegas.  Since 2010 he has been very successful in the U25 competitions ridden by Morgan Barbançon Mestre, with whom he started competing at Grand Prix.  The duo paired up for the 2012 London Olympics, as well as, the World Championships in Caen in 2015.  They were the highest placed Spanish combination.

In 2016 Painted Black retired at the age of 19.  Named as ''Preferent'' by the KWPN studbook, Painted Black has entered the small group of elite producing stallions.  With an index of 169 and an accuracy of 90%, Painted Black achieved a very respectful 3rd place in the KWPN-index.

Painted Black has numerous offspring competing in sport up to Grand Prix: Zircoon Spring Flower, Wervelwind, Don Bravour, Black Painted, Black Pearl, Blacktime, Binky, Baccara van Weltevreden, Chacha Time, Detroit etc.  He also has numerous approved sons.
