Scarlatti was not only the three-time Schleswig-Holstein champion under rider Sarah Garayhi, he also won many top Grand Prix’s such as in Neumunster, Lubeck, Bad Segeberg, and Bonn. In 2003, Eurodressage wrote about the stallion noting the grey was “praised for his movement, scoring 10s regularly in the extended trot.” Eurodressage quoted Garayhi who explained, “Scarlatti is a very sensitive, sensible horse. He’s very loose and willing. He always wants to do his best.” In 2006, Scarlatti and Garayhi repeated their victory from the year before in the Grand Prix Special at the Parkfestival Dressur in Bonn. They were also second in the Grand Prix placing just behind Satchmo ridden by Isabel Werth. Scarlatti is distinguished by his ground covering movement, which swings through his entire body. From his sire, Silvano, he inherited an unending willingness to work, ambition, and excellent rideability. Silvano, ridden by Ellen Bontje, is the most successful Holstein dressage horse in recent history. His team silver medal repertoire ranges from the World Equestrian Games to his career highpoint, the Olympic Games in Sydney. From his dam, St.Pr.St. Penelope (Cardinal xx – Ramzes AA), Scarlatti has a high concentration of the finest performance blood. Penelope herself was very athletic and had success not only in dressage, but also in jumping and eventing up to M Level. Bred to Accord II, she produced Aaron, the outstanding 1996 Hessian Licensing Champion and Reserve Champion of the stallion performance test in Medingen. Scarlatti can look back on a career that also started at his Hessian Licensing in 1993 where he was the Reserve Champion exciting the audience and breeding committee alike. He and Sarah moved quickly up to Grand Prix after success in the young horse classes and the Bundeschampionate. Scarlatti passes on type, rideability, and his enormous movement. This is shown the best in his son, Siciliano who was the Champion of the Hessian Licensing, and has been successful at Grand Prix since. Scarlatti’s son, Song Seng, was one of the highest priced auction horses at the 2008 Oldenburg Elite Auction confirming the strength of Scarlatti as a sire. |
