Metternich is probably the best son of Matcho AA so far. He is bred out of a very consolidated dam line (Ellinor was the winner of several national mare shows) and shaped by his refining ancestors. Metternich is a particularly versatile horse and so are most of his typey offspring. He is clearly stamped by his Thoroughbred ancestors, with a powerful and compact conformation, very much like Pik Konig in type, presence and ability. He has an excellent shoulder and hindquarters. Like his progeny, Metternich impresses with an excellent walk and a very high rideability. His young sons give rise to great hope for an impressive career as prepotent sire: In 1998 his son Montesquieu and in 1999 his son Multistar each became Reserve Champion at the stallion licensing in Verden. After a very successful stallion performance test in 1999, Montesquieu became a State stallion at Celle. His daughter Mona Lisa was Vice-Champion mare at the Ratje-Niebuhr Show in 2000 . |
