Hofrat (Archived)

EH Hofrat is the sire of champions and is a son of the international Grand Prix stallion, EH Gribaldi, the top dressage sire in the world and sire of the World Equestrian Games gold medalist and record breaking stallion, Totilas.

Hofrat was Reserve Champion of his licensing, qualified for the the Bundeschampionate multiple times, was the 2002 Trakehner Champion, and has been a successful Grand Prix dressage competitor.

For years, Hofrat was rated in the top 1% of all German sires on the FN and still has an impressive 2014 index of 147/96%. In 2005, he produced the licensing champion and the most expensive Hanoverian stallion, Hotline, who went on to win the Danish National Championship in 2008 and in 2009 he won the qualifier with a score of 9.45, finishing up as Danish Reserve Champion. In 2010, Hotline went on to win several advanced dressage classes and has since been successful at Grand Prix himself.

In 2011, Hofrat sired the champion of the Trakehner licensing, Haewelmann, and in the following year, his son, Hofgraf won the Verden qualification for the Nuernberger Burg-Pokal under Holga Finken. Hofrat then moved to the Netherlands to stand stud for Dutch breeding. In 2013, he successfully completed his 5 day test and was fully approved by the KWPN breeding committee.

On the 2014 WBFSH list of dressage sires, Gribaldi is ranked at the top. Hofrat's champion grandsire Kostolany descends from the Pasteur xx/Mahogani line, the same line that produced Olympic bronze medalist Peron TSF, as well as international dressage horses Chronos and Marlon. Great grandsire Enrico Caruso stands for performances and rideability and his offspring have been regulars atop the USDF stallion rankings. Hofrat's dam produced the reserve champion stallion, Hoftaenzer.
