Damon Jerome H is better known as “DJ” at Gut Rothenkircherhof, and this nick-name suits the Rhinelander liver-chestnut with 50% Trakehner blood very well because he rocks the spectators wherever he appears. Uta Gräf’s path crossed DJ's early in his career when Uta rode him as a test rider during his 30-day stallion test. It was the first time she had ridden the stallion, and she immediately had a good rapport with him. It’s hard to say whether he or Uta were luckier when Damon Jerome H moved into the big paddock box at Gut Rothenkircherhof in February 2009. He has lived there ever since, and enjoys a good bath in his field during the rainy season.

As a “top talent” this Rhinelander is a blessing, and at the same time, a challenge for his rider. As easy as it is for him to keep the naturalness of his outstanding gaits while effortlessly executing the dressage movements, he needs to be challenged intellectually. A diverse training program, extensive grazing time, and hand work with Stefan Schneider keeps the Hitschold family’s best horse in the right mood. The stallion not only delights everybody at Gut Rothenkircherhof, but does so as well in his rare appearances in the dressage arena. At the 2010 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, he placed 4th and thrilled the crowds during his debut. A year later, he was the Reserve Champion scoring very closely to the winner.

Damon Jerome has great potential to follow in Le Noir’s big footsteps one day. We all look forward to that, but in the meantime, this self- confident youngster is enjoying his crowned prince existence.
