Arko III is a wonderful horse and phenomenal show jumper. He is one of the best sons of his late sire Argentinus and comes from an excellent dam line where we find the famous Zeus. Under the saddle of Nick Skelton, he stayed at the Top International level for seven years and was always present at the major shows like the World Cups, European Championships and Olympic Games. He was placed 188 times in international competitions and was a 10 time winner of the Grand Prix classes at CSIO and CSIW shows. In addition, he placed 10th individually at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games representing Britain.
Arko III was the Number 1 horse in Europe for 5 consecutive years and won over £1,000,000. Some of his tremendous achievements also include winning the Dubai Classic and being 2nd in the Dubai Grand Prix in 2006. He won the CSIO Rome Grand Prix as well as the CSIO Lucerne Grand Prix and was 2nd in the Cannes Grand Prix. He had numerous Nations Cups double clears and because of his accomplishments his owners were the FEI Winning Owners for two years in a row. In a fitting end to his career, Arko III won the 2008 Spruce Meadows CSIO Masters Tournament before being retired to stud where he is now widely available as a stallion.
Arko III's sire, Argentinus, sired over 400 show jumping horses in Germany alone as well as more than 30 approved stallions worldwide. Argentinus' offspring distinguish themselves in breeding shows, jumping, and dressage competitions. Among his most well known progeny, aside from Arko III are: Aramis, born in 1984, the first one who arrived at the highest level; Autogramm, born in 1985, Grand Prix and Nations Cups winner; Anka, winner of the 2003 Worl Cup with M. Ehning; Albano, team gold medal at the 2001 European Championships with H.Kemmer and 3rd in the 2003 dressage World Cup; Grace Argentina, international winner with L. Beerbaum; Air Jordan Z, CSI (winner of 1,5 million Euros); and also Armitage, Azzaro, Anastasia III, Asti Spumanti, Adlantus As, and Special Ed ridden by Jill Henselwood.
The real power behind the success of Arko III is also established in his dam line, namely the mare lineage 002. This wide spread family is the base of a long list of international show jumpers : Now or Never (Piet Raymakers), Alanda (Pieter Kersten), Opium (Marcus Ehning), It's the Business (Goeff Glazzard), Friso (Guido Dominici) and the legendary Darco, who took a 6th place at the World Championship in Stockholm (1990), a 7th place at the Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992) and produced several CSI winners, ranked now as the world best sire of show jumpers.
Arko III began breeding in France in 2009. He has sired some very impressive offspring who have already produced some wonderful performances. These offspring include the approved stallions: Argento, a very good stallion regularly ranked internationally and winner of the 2012 Grand Prix in Liege and Odense under John Whitaker; Arkida, 5 yr. old champion of England; Arkan, the full brother of Lilibet and AES approved stallion; Arkanza Z, Arkino Z, along with the showjumpers: Miss Arko, awarded mare in the English young horses classes; and Lilibet who represented England in the 2007 Young Horse World Championships.
