
Calvados |
Calvados was bred from the topmost French performance
bloodlines. His sire, Uriel, has been leading sire in France for
many years (index 211/highest in
France). Uriel has left 26 sons to the French stud, and brought
forth more than100 international caliber horses. Calvados' dam, Goldrose (index 186) became at age
three, Conformation Champion of
France. She was part of the French team from '72 till '81 and won
Grand Prix such as Paris and Madrid, was second in Grand Prix of Lisbon,
Barcelona and Hamburg. Her prize money amounted to 621,000 French
francs. In addition, Gold Rose produced two sons, that became approved
stallion, Turban Rose in Sweden and Sable Rose in Holland.
Gold Rose was sired by the great showjumper producer Ibrahim, who has 36
approved sons in France, including the legendary Alme. The granddam
of Calvados, Jolie Rosie, had six offspring performing in international
contests : All Rose, Dall Rose, Gold Rose, Calline V, Irmino & Joly
Jumper. Calvados as a four year old won the National Stallion
Competition. In 1992 Calvados as an eight year old claimed seventh place
in the Dutch Championship. The next yearhe was Reserve Champion of the
Netherlands and won the Grand Prix of Tjele in Damark, third in the
Grand Prix Drammen, fifth Grand Prix Fal-sterbro, second Grand Prix
Spangenberg, fourth Grand Prix Geesteren and winner of the stallion
competition at 's-Hertogenbosch. Ahough his oldest crop is only six,
Calvados offspring are in the hands of many international riders,
including Hauser's Illusion, Royal Future and Hollywood. |
