This highly modern and refined Cassini I son convinces because of his excellent top line and flawless conformation, good gaits and energetic push-off at the fence with lots of rubber, a nicely curved back and awesome ability. As expected, Calico did a great job at his 30-day test which he took in 2006 in Neustadt/Dosse, receiving outstanding scores for rideability, his canter and jumping ability. The required proof of performance for licensing was completed by qualifying for the 2008 Bundeschampionat. Corresponding to his age, Calico then won tests for young show jumpers in novice (A), elementary (L) and medium (M) level. His sire, Cassini I, a Holstein Verband stallion, is one of the most popular jumper-makers in the world.  In sport he won ribbons with Franke Sloothaak in the saddle in Nations Cups and World Cup show jumping competitions and in breeding he sired numerous top international horses such as the current World Champion, Cumano (Jos Lansink/NL) and Berlin (Wim Schröder/NL), Isolvas Olympic (Steve Guerdat/CH) who participated in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, or Carino (Ulli Kirchhoff) and Ingmar (Pia-Luise Aufrecht). Calico’s dam, Caprice III, was also bred to Lux Z which resulted in a licensed stallion named Lagunas, who finished his 100-day test in Warendorf in 1995 with a very high jumping index of 137.53. He left several very good show jumpers behind in Rhineland before he was sent to the Netherlands. When bred to Cassini II, Caprice produced another licensed son named Cortado (DEN). Calico's full sister was awarded a State Premium and passed her broodmare performance test with a score of 9.0.  The dam line has been refined and an extra portion of  performance added through the time-tested Ladykiller xx sons, Lorenz and Latino. The refinement stallions Mabuse and Napoleon are found further on in the dam's pedigree which is registered as line 6660. Closely related from this line are four State Premium mares, including two district champion mares.
